Hi, I'm Alicia Fairbourn.

I'm an illustrator based in Rochester, New York, where I spend my days making art, raising three kids, walking my dog, and paying close attention to the little moments that often become ideas for future illustrations.

I didn't set out to become a children's book illustrator. After studying special education and spending years raising my family, I found my way back to drawing—and eventually realized that the kinds of stories I wanted to tell lived in picture books.

I'm happiest creating artwork that feels warm, playful, and full of curiosity. I love expressive characters, interesting environments, and stories that invite readers to slow down, notice details, and imagine what might happen next. Whether I'm working digitally or experimenting with paint, ink, or colored pencil, I'm always chasing that feeling of discovery that made me love children's books in the first place.

I'm currently focused on illustrating children's books and building stories that celebrate imagination, nature, friendship, and everyday adventure.
